05-21-06: Please join us for the opening reception of
"many, many guys and girls, all real beauties."
Curated by Julian Hoeber.

OPENING RECEPTION:
THURSDAY MAY 25, 7pm - 9pm

May, 25, 2006 - June 22, 2006

About 100 people contributed photographs to this show. They were asked to give me an image or two that suited the space. By the space I mean the Circus of Books and its history, as well as the way the store looks. The plan was to put the pictures together so that they would fill the walls and bleed together, at least a bit, with the magazine covers. When I asked everyone for the pictures I had no idea what was coming. I've been guessing all along. But part of the pleasure has been to see what this group of people would look like all together in a room. Of course I'm talking about their pictures, not them. It was, however, a choice to organize an exhibition around a group of people rather than a specific group of pictures. Hopefully there is some confusion for viewers about who did what and where the art begins and ends. I hope that it is a little euphoric. I hope that it is a little ecstatic, a little dirty and beautiful.

A message from my pally Julian Hoeber:

For those who don't know already, this is the film I wrote and directed and made with a bunch of really smart and interesting people last year. This will be the first time it will screen in a theater and there is supposed to be a party to follow, as hosted by the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. The theatre is at Beverly and Fairfax in LA. I hope you can all make it. I look forward to seeing you there.

Me too! Please say hello if you come out to see the movie.

07-14-05: I shot footage for a documentary when I was in Boston a few weeks ago getting ready to sell my mom's house. I also performed "Immaculate Haaht" in the toolshed in our backyard there. I'm spending the rest of the summer working on these projects.
