KITTY MEETS THE FURRIES first appeared as a diary entry titled One Saturday Night in Furbank. Some months later I was invited to participate in a show called Hans: Interspecies Love, so I edited the story and drew illustrations of the photos I took at the Confurence, and I made a book.
The Furry gamely held up his paw and smiled.
I laughed. Whats your name?
Al, he said quietly, as if I was the first girl hed ever spoken to.
Hi Al! Im Kitty! We shook paws.
Some furries busted my chops because they thought I was making fun of them. But Kitty Meets the Furries was also put on the Recommended Anthropomorphics Reading List for the 2002 Ursa Major Awards, presented annually for excellence in the furry arts. I have to admit, I felt a little yiffy when they told me. Meow!
